Essential Functions: Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Enterprise Applications for Information Technology Services (ITS), the incumbent leads the design and implementation of enterprise-level software solutions for Cal State LA's modernization and growth needs. As a critical member of the Enterprise Applications team, the incumbent provides strategic planning, operational guidance, and implementation leadership to campus units, offering best-fit solutions to campus administrative and academic business needs. In addition, the incumbent will also be a champion for building the cloud-first strategy and implementing best-in-class cloud solutions and integrations that deliver web services and application platforms that meet end-user needs. The incumbent will collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing technical leadership and guidance to ensure our applications are scalable, secure, and efficient, supporting the university's long-term strategic objectives. Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from a four-year accredited college or university. Proven experience as an Enterprise Applications Architect or a similar role within a large organization. Minimum of ten years of technical knowledge and working experience in software design and architecture, including experience with architectural principles, design patterns, application frameworks, and development methodologies. Minimum of ten years of technical experience with enterprise relational database systems such as Oracle or equivalent. Experience with enterprise-level application integration and enterprise service bus (ESB) technologies; with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architecture; PeopleSoft modules such as Campus Systems, HCM, and Financials; and in customization, integration, and performance tuning of PeopleSoft applications. Strong understanding of PeopleSoft architecture and modules and proficiency in SQL and database concepts. The incumbent must have strong expertise in designing and implementing enterprise-level applications and systems; and in PeopleTools, PeopleCode, Application Engine, Component Interface, Integration Broker, and other PeopleSoft development tools. Proficiency in various programming languages, databases, technologies, and enterprise software systems. The incumbent must have in-depth knowledge of security and compliance standards related to enterprise applications. The incumbent must have excellent analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills; excellent communication skills, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. The incumbent must have the ability to perform simultaneous tasks without degradation in work integrity; and act decisively under stressful situations. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. Desired Qualifications: A graduate degree from an accredited college or university. Experience working in higher education. Demonstrated broad, state-of-the-art technology awareness that can be applied creatively to business problems and opportunities. Demonstrated experience in data integration and the specification of data services; a wide range of application software packages, working knowledge of IT-related products and services, and general knowledge of other areas of IT; and with PeopleSoft Fluid User Interface. Knowledge of PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) and PeopleSoft Integration Broker; of the systems development life cycle, structured analysis, design and programming techniques, programming languages, file access methods, web-based tools/solutions, system utilities and development tools, application software packages, and PC-based packages used in developing or supporting production systems; of how system management actions affect other systems, system users, and dependent/related functions; and of DevOps and containerization technologies. Strong business acumen to align technology solutions with organizational goals. Project management skills to oversee the execution of architectural plans. Ability to understand and model complex knowledge-intensive processes; to oversee and develop tools to aid day-to-day operations and functions; and a desire to have an impact, a drive for change, and a passion for leading the pack. Relevant certifications, such as TOGAF or AWS Certified Solutions Architect. Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and guide development teams. PeopleSoft certification. Familiarity with PeopleSoft Cloud Architecture (PCA). |
